According to October 2022 export data, exports of iron and non-ferrous metals increased by 2.8% compared to the previous year, reaching $1.06 billion.
Türkiye's exports in June 2023 fell by 10.5 percent to $20.9 billion. For the first six months of 2023, exports decreased by 1.08 percent, reaching $123.377 billion.
The decline in exports during the first six months was partly due to the nine-day holiday period, with the iron and non-ferrous metals and steel sectors being the most negatively affected. The steel sector saw a 42.1% decrease, while the iron and non-ferrous metals sector experienced an 18.8% drop. The iron and non-ferrous metals sector achieved $1 billion in exports during the first half of the year, while the steel sector achieved $1.3 billion.
These two sectors, which accounted for 13.4% of our country's exports in June, have increased their share in total exports despite the decrease seen in the data. In Türkiye's total export share, the iron and non-ferrous metals sector has a 6.1% share, and the steel sector has a 7.3% share.
